BACKGROUND
The Gramin Urja Tatha Prabidhi Sewa Kendra Pvt. Ltd. (RETSC) is a private company engaged in rendering services for the promotion and dissemination of rural energy and other appropriate technologies for the benefit of the rural people in Nepal. RETSC was established in 2003 under Company Act of Nepal.
OBJECTIVE
The main objective of the Centre establishment is to focus its efforts towards technology promotion for poverty alleviation in a sustainable manner thereby helping ease the lifestyle of the rural community.

WORKING MODALITY
- Make contacts with partners and promotional organizations for collaborative efforts and product service marketing
- Provide counseling and orientation / demon-stration services to potential promoters and users for awareness creation
- Develop and produce/fabricate technology prototype of quality and undertake their sales promotion
- Undertake adoptive research and development activities as per need
- Establish link with various service providers such as service centers, manufacturers, suppliers, financing institution to potential technology users
- Provide technical support services for technology transfer and local capability development
ORGANIZATIONAL SETUP
RETSC's organizational structure consists of a General Assembly comprising promoters and general members and a Governing Board at the second level consisting of members elected by the General Assembly, which provides policy direction to the management and approves rules and regulation of the organization. The Managing Director, who is the executive head of the institution and member secretary of the board is responsible for the day-to-day management and smooth operation of the Centre, heads the management.
RETSC'S INVOLVEMENT IN THE PAST
- Provided technical support in Bee-Hive Briquette production training organized by RRAFDC, Bara supported by Plan Inter-national
- Assisted potential users for the procu-rement, assembling and operation of Solar Parabolic Cookers
- Assisted potential users for the procurement and operation of Solar Dryers
- Organized a number of orientation and demonstration activities on various tech-nologies for awareness creation among the potential partners, promoters and users
- Participated in a number of technology related events organized by various partner organizations
- In collaboration with CRT/N, provided technical support services for the promotion and dissemination of solar dryers in Dhankuta and Palpa district during May - July 2005
- In collaboration with CRT/N, provided technical support services to WEAN Cooperatives for solar dryer training
- Assisted CRT/N in promoting technical support services for Bee-Hive Briquette training organized by CARE Nepal, in Gorkha district
